Areas of Expertise
Designing and carrying out program evaluations, statistically analyzing data, and assessing the effectiveness of training and services are challenges for any social service agency or health care provider. Many organizations do not have the resources to have a program evaluator, statistical analyst, or proposal development staff on a full or even part-time basis. Evalustat can provide the expertise and support you need to maximize your agency's resources and to grow or enhance the services you provide.
From conducting a formative evaluation for proposal development to an outcomes/impact evaluation, we can design an evaluation plan tailored to the specific questions your agency/program needs to have answered.
The evaluation can make use of existing data if available or we can design a data collection plan and help you select the best instruments.
We are skilled in both quantitative and qualitative methods and can develop and conduct surveys as well as focus groups and observational studies of treatment and services.
We can provide statistical analysis using data sets that are large or small, using the most appropriate tests for the research question and available data.
Analyses can be simple and descriptive counts and percentages or sophisticated making use of advanced techniques such as mixed effects hierarchical models and latent class analyses.
Regardless of the procedures used, we strive to make the results interpretable and useful for those without a statistical background and will work closely with you to clarify the meaning of the statistical results.
Surveys have become increasingly common as online platforms such as SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics, and REDCap have made survey development using the Internet easy and convenient. However, obtaining good information requires constructing good, unbiased questions and a clear, comprehensible overall survey design.
We can help you evaluate your existing survey instruments and recommend changes and additions as needed, implement new surveys using one of the aforementioned platforms and existing instruments, and/or design a new survey from the ground up given your evaluation/research question.
We can also help you better reach your target audience through selective banner placement on relevant sites or email blasts.
We can help you develop an evaluation design and write the evaluation section for your proposal.
Many proposals also require a needs assessment for the proposed services. We can help with that too by analyzing data your agency already collects or making use of existing data sources that can be applied to your location and service targets.
Screening Instrument Design
We are experienced in evaluating use of existing screening instruments including developing thresholds/cutpoints for referrals for additional services or a full assessment.
We can also recommend instruments for screening and assessment from among the many validated and reliable instruments available.
We can help develop a needs assessment of potential or existing clients to determine what services are priorities, which services are not being well implemented, and how services can be improved to provide better care.
Often, but not always, needs assessment are required with proposals. We are experienced at conducting needs assessment as part of proposal development but we also have experience conducting needs assessments for existing programs.
